Dear AMSCI member,
On February 10, 2022, the Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) published a Federal Register notice requesting public comments on the Section 232 exclusion process. In particular, BIS sought public comment “…on the responsiveness of the exclusions process to market demand and enhanced consultation with U.S. firms and labor organizations.” BIS also welcomed comments on a number of related topics.
Given our longstanding concerns with the inadequacies of the exclusion process as currently administered, particularly with respect to supply chain issues, we prepared comments which were successfully submitted today, and are attached below. These comments are also posted on our website, www.amsci.us.
This submission is part of our continuing effort to make sure that your voice is heard in Washington on this important matter. We will keep you fully informed regarding any future developments in this area.
